Bronwyn Winter

Dr Bronwyn Winter is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of French Studies at the University of Sydney. She is also a feminist and lesbian activist, with involvement regular or spasmodic as work commitments dictate - in such organisations and initiatives as the Coalition of Activist Lesbians and Women in Black. Her work on feminist theory, women in international and national politics, human rights, lesbian feminist politics, women and the politics of race, nation and culture, islamism, globalisation, and critiques of liberalism has been widely published in Australian and international journals and anthologies. She considers her academic work and her feminist activism as feeding each other rather than being separate, and writing as a personal and political necessity. She is also President of the University of Sydney branch of the National Tertiary Education Union.
